Teaching Grandson and Granddaughter to Quilt

I have been having the hardest time keeping up with blogging lately.  I have been very busy sewing, but the blogging has had to go by the wayside a bit.  I have another blog that I maintain for the Reedsburg Area Quilt Guild also.  I have been working with two of my grandchildren, teaching them to sew a quilt.  We are using a technique that I saw on the Sewing With Nancy Show where they draw their designs and then sew them on the block, kind of a reverse applique.  We will post pictures of the finished quilts when done.

Tucker is busy sewing his quilt for our guild's quilt show in October.  He is pretty much a speeder as far as style goes.  I was afraid he would break a needle and have it fly in his eye, so the only thing I could find to protect his eyes came out of the toy box.
Here is a shot of the eye protection.  Kind of reminds me of the old sitcom, A Different World, which was a spin off from the Cosby Show with Dwayne Wayne having the flipped-up sunglasses.  These toy sunglasses might be that old, and each lens flips down separately, leading to some interesting possibilities.  Tucker and Brenin finished their blocks this week. Exciting!  Next step is putting them on the design wall in a pattern that they like and then sewing the top together.  Come back for the final arrangements.
